So many people love hardwood floors, but find it difficult to love them when they aren’t looking their best. If your hardwood floors are looking less than stellar, there are some tricks you can try to bring your hardwoods back to their original beauty. Here is information on ways to make your hardwood floors really shine.

How to Put the Glow in Your Hardwoods

First, have a good look at your floors. If they just don’t shine like they used to, you may be considering having them refinished. However, refinishing is expensive, and there’s a chance it may be unnecessary as well. Instead, you may want to consider having your floor recoated. Recoating makes your floors look amazing, without the expense of refinishing.

Second, make sure you are cleaning your floors properly. You’ll know what to use based on what coating you have on your floors. Take a drop of water and drop it to the floor. If it beads up, you have a polyurethane finish, and you can clean your floors with a vinegar and water solution. If it soaks into the wood, you have a wax finish, and you need to clean with a coating compound to protect your floors. While we’re talking about your floors, be sure that you have rugs in high traffic areas. This will help protect your floors from harm. Put floor protectors down on your chairs, so that moving the furniture won’t scratch your floors.

Make sure that your home is set at the right temperature for your hardwoods, and the right humidity as well. You will want your home to stay between 60 and 80 degrees, with no more than 50% humidity.
